About us

A warm welcome awaits visitors to The White Hart Community Inn (Tafarn Cymunedol Hydd Gwyn) at the heart of St Dogmaels/Llandudoch, a charming village on the shore of Cardigan Bay.

The White Hart started trading in 1769 and was the last traditional pub in the village before it closed in May 2019. A momentous decision was then taken by the community of St Dogmaels to purchase The White Hart.

Two years of fundraising and campaigning followed until the community raised the funds to be able to purchase the pub.

550+ shareholders offered their support for this exciting venture, coming from far and wide, with many from St Dogmaels and the surrounding area,
but also from other parts of Wales, England, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada.

Support also came from the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, the Social Business Growth Fund of Social Investment Cymru at WCVA and a grant from Pembrokeshire County Council.

The purchase was finally agreed on 18th January 2021, and The White Hart became The White Hart Community Inn.
